the big boss of my department keeps war-ration-sized stores of candy in his cabinets. not for himself, mind you. he doesn't like desert. he says. no, he merely heaps it on the rest of us. he's out of town right now and I just took a look at his candy cabinet. inside is a bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups the size of a small child, multiple bags of Hershey Kisses, a sack of bite-size Snickers that could bludgeon a grown man to death, two bags of Oreo cookies, a carton of Blow Pops, a tin filled with York Peppermint Patties, a half-empty giant bag of Starburst, a box of Chips Ahoy, and a combo pack of raisins. it's a freakish amount of processed sugar that sits within those two wooden boxes. there was a time where I'd horde as much as I could for no good reason and just go to town. but for now, I've just chosen to settle for a cherry Blow Pop. them cabinets hold danger inside.
