Friday Friday Friday...early Friday morning is always a mixture of happiness and anticipation for me.

strange things continue to happen outside my apartment windows, mostly at night. early Thursday morning, around 5am I think, I heard a man let out a bloodcurdling, screaming yell, after which he yelled some words that I can't remember. it was startling. then this morning at 6:30am, right after I woke up, some guy in a car pulled up right under my window and just sat there, blasting death metal. why do this at 6am? he sat there for about 2 minutes, and then pulled away.

I think the main cause for some of these unsavory types is the adult video store (or, porno store, as I call it) that's a half block away. sometimes it's fun to watch people (men, mostly) go in and out of there. it's open 24 hours/day. one morning I saw some guy go in and come out again, all before 9:30. sometimes when I'm walking down the street to get to my apartment, I'll see people sneak in the door. they'll look around furtively, like a shoplifter scanning a store before they stuff something into their pockets, and then duck in quickly. or sometimes, a young couple who think they're being "bad" will go in, holding hands, laughing and giddy. then there's the occasional, business-like person who will walk up to the door brusquely and go in without a care. I'd like to set up a video camera outside my living room window to capture the different types of people who go in and out. it's quite the sociological study.

I myself have gone in the porn store a total of two times. both drunk, both for a laugh, once to prove that I would actually go in (what's the big deal?). it's your basic adult playground--videos, dildos, mags, anal beads, you know, your typical adult needs. I think my favorite magazine that they carry had to be "50 and Over," which depicted a bunch of *all nude!* over-50 English women. the text was hilarious--lots of references to fannies and bums. I just don't know how to take a porno mag seriously when they use the word "bum." oh well.

uh, so that's my entry for now. hmm. not what I'd planned to write about, but there you have it. I'm going to unveil the flan tonight. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it came out and to eating it right up. until next time...
